Obedience 101 - Beginning Clicker Class
Who should attend: vaccinated dogs over 5 months of ageWhat to bring with you: Your dog on a regular collar and leash. No choke chains or "pinch" collars. Lots of tasty soft treats for rewards.
Obedience 101 – this course teaches the foundation behaviors taught as though they were games to play with your dog. You and your dog will learn how to capture unique behaviors, how to sit and down, leaving things like food or trash alone, coming when called, how to walk politely on a lead, go to your bed, targeting, and waiting at the door. In addition to these behaviors, we also work through a “lite” version of agility training. The dogs really enjoy going through a tunnel, jumping through hoops, and the most difficult…..running the weave poles! This course is for dogs over 5 months of age and lasts for 6 weeks.
Course Objectives:
At the end of this course, your dog should be able to:
- Sit and lie down
- Settle on a bed or mat
- Walk on a loose lead
- Stay
- Wait politely at the door
- Follow a target stick
- Begin "offering behavior" as he or she starts to understand that asked for behavior gets rewarded!
- Have the building blocks to learn any new trick you would like to teach her!
